Introduction

Energy management is largely a science. Today's energy management challenges are much more dynamic than they were in the
past. Corporates are facing acute energy crisis. On one hand, they are caught with scarcity of electricity supply and on the other, the
ever increasing cost of energy. Various organisations with lead from Bureau of Energy Efficiency are looking for accredited energy
managers and auditors to find solution to the creeping problems.
Energy management is an essential and unavoidable activity in most of the industrial sector. Energy management systems are
applied in various forms and degrees of sophistication to all sectors of industry. It contains a large variety of measures e.g.
recognising the importance of energy management, target setting, planning, monitoring, reporting and implementing optimal control
strategies. Such planned strategies require a specialised stream exclusively dedicated to develop individuals into expert energy
managers.

Potential Careers
Energy is a diverse field, with many job opportunities. It will open opportunities in utility management for various industrial sectors
such as fertilizers, refinery, paper and pulp, cement, rubber, pharmaceutical, chemical, textile, gas and oil companies and various
energy intensive industries utilising fuel and electricity.
It also offers opportunities in government & research groups, energy education, environmental regulation agencies, non-profit energy
awareness and conservation organisations and for many other energy related agencies.
This course is useful for existing utility managers, energy consultants, energy auditors, students of energy management, professors /

One Years Post Graduate Diploma Course in Fire Protection Engineering (PGDFPE)

Introduction

Technical changes within industry and the increase in the number, variety, type of chemicals, flammable and combustible products
and population densities have accentuated the complex fire problems. Such demands have created a need of constant research and
development to come out with customized scientific solutions. In fact a specialised training based on latest theories in fire protection
engineering including various aspects pertaining to design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire protection systems is
the need of the hour. This in totality requires a special branch of engineering in its own right.
Safety is connected with the lives and property of people and the general situation of reform, development and stability. Safety
training in its proper application can dramatically reduce maintenance costs, increase safety performance, prevent loss of time and
accidents and enhance productivity. Many safety professionals work in manufacturing and production operation to ensure that
working conditions & methods are safe for employees.

Online PGD In Piping Design & Engineering From MIT

MIT SCHOOL OF DISTANCE EDUCATION
(Recognised by Distance Education Council,Govt.of India)

One Years Post Graduate Diploma Course in Piping Design and Engineering (PGDPDE)

Introduction

Piping design & engineering is a key element in various streams of engineering. Piping & accessories constitute over 25% of the total
capital investment in the chemical process industry, petroleum & petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, power plants, long
distance LNG / LPG / CNG Piping Systems & Irrigation Systems.
Piping design helps system designers, mechanical, packaging, and manufacturing engineers to accurately design, route document,
and produce complex piping and tubing systems while optimally re-using designs for dramatic time savings and improvements in
productivity.
A variety of global challenges like corrosion prevention, pipeline maintenance, leak detection in long distance pipelines, pipe coating,
concrete coating, bending, welding and deep water services, pipeline cleaning, pipeline operating efficiency etc in itself demands a
specialised stream in Piping design and engineering.

Potential Careers
A Piping engineer plays an important role in "Concept to Commissioning" in all sectors of process and related industries. A Piping
engineer has to be conversant with subjects such as fluid handling, stress strain relationship, material of construction, field
instrumentation, statutory & safety aspects. Areas like design and selection of complex equipment applications, designing of audit
requirements and developing of procedures for testing, installation, commissioning and startup also fall under his profile. With
increasing emphasis on transportation of petroleum products, natural gas, corrosive hazardous chemicals, through underground and
long distance pipelines, the requirement of skilled piping engineers is increasing day by day.

Energy Crisis And Causes

Dear All,

All of us we talk about Energy/Power crunch,,,because as common man we know only two faces of energy crisis 1.Load Shedding 2.Fuel Difficiency(Raising cost for Petrol/disel/Gas)So directly or indirectly Energy has become the topic of discssion for all of us,though we are not Power Minister,Engineers or Energy Auditors.

Today Lets Discuss about Energy Crisis.

An energy crisis is any great bottleneck (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. In popular literature though, it often refers to one of the energy sources used at a certain time and place.

Causes

Market failure is possible when monopoly manipulation of markets occurs. A crisis can develop due to industrial actions like union organized strikes and government embargoes. The cause may be over-consumption, aging infrastructure, choke point disruption or bottlenecks at oil refineries and port facilities that restrict fuel supply. An emergency may emerge during unusually cold winters due to increased consumption of energy.

Pipeline failures and other accidents may cause minor interruptions to energy supplies. A crisis could possibly emerge after infrastructure damage from severe weather. Attacks by terrorists or militia on important infrastructure are a possible problem for energy consumers, with a successful strike on a Middle East facility potentially causing global shortages. Political events, for example, when governments change due to regime change, monarchy collapse, military occupation, and coup may disrupt oil and gas production and create shortages.

Energy Conservation

Energy conservation is the practice of decreasing the quantity of energy used. It may be achieved through efficient energy use, in which case energy use is decreased while achieving a similar outcome, or by reduced consumption of energy services. Energy conservation may result in increase of financial capital, environmental value, national security, personal security, and human comfort. Individuals and organizations that are direct consumers of energy may want to conserve energy in order to reduce energy costs and promote economic security. Industrial and commercial users may want to increase efficiency and thus maximize profit.
0px|High energy advertising in Shinjuku,Japan.]] Electrical energy conservation is an important element of energy policy. Energy conservation reduces the energy consumption and energy demand per capita and thus offsets some of the growth in energy supply needed to keep up with population growth. This reduces the rise in energy costs, and can reduce the need for new power plants, and energy imports. The reduced energy demand can provide more flexibility in choosing the most preferred methods of energy production.
By reducing emissions, energy conservation is an important part of lessening climate change. Energy conservation facilitates the replacement of non-renewable resources with renewable energy. Energy conservation is often the most economical solution to energy shortages.
